TAIPEI: Taiwan share prices opened down 0.34 percent Friday as investors took to the sidelines in thin trade, dealers said.

The weighted index fell 14.92 points to 4,398.53 after a 0.22 per cent fall Thursday.

"As Wall Street was closed for a holiday, investors here tend to wait for new clues before coming back to the trading floor," Yuanta Securities Investment Consulting analyst Young Wang said.
